MAX Faith

My favorite resource for a daily devotional is from The Daniel Plan 365-Day Devotional by Rick Warren.  

The day I decided to step out in "Faith" and move forward with starting a health and wellness ministry in our church that would reach out into the community as a non-denominational support system for people working on getting healthy.... the following devotional was from this day.  The date happened to be Tuesday, December 1, 2020

Make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance.

- 2 Peter 1:5-6

     Faith is foundational. By itself, though, faith can do only so much. That's why Peter urges us to add other character qualities that bring faith to its fullest potential. These additional qualities include goodness, knowledge, self-control, and perseverance. 

     These qualities can be easily translated to our health journey. As we learn the best foods to eat, we can then ask God to help us develop the self-control and perseverance to make those foods a steady part of our diet. We can grow in self-control by planning ahead and being intentional about what we eat. By planning ahead, we'll always have good choices available to nourish us. By being mindful in this way, and doing it consistently, we use our knowledge, self-control, and perseverance. Then our bodies will be at their best for whatever service the Lord asks of us.

What a great thought to use as a foundational stone to build upon in the coming months as we navigate together to become healthier….the better version of us created as we were meant to be to fulfill God’s purpose for us. 

Strong words to hold on to and think about….Faith, Knowledge, Self-Control.  

I don’t who will be joining us on this adventure….but know I am praying for you. We can do this you know. ♥  Looking forward to January and walking through life with you.
