When? Beginning January 5 (Cozad) and January 7 (Lexington) 2021

Thursday 10:00 am check in, 10:30 -11:00 meeting
OR 5:00 pm check in, 5:30 pm meeting (masks optional) Chairs will be socially distanced
Purpose: To offer a safe environment for support and encouragement of health and wellness goals. Although we will be discussing weight loss and maintenance with the inclusion of an optional scale check for accountability, we will encourage including God as a partner in the process of self-care through prayer and devotions made available to the group through the blog on this website.
Why? In person groups are not currently an option in our community. This is an opportunity to offer a wellness group at United Methodist Church, Cozad & LexChristian in Lexington to meet the emotional support needs of the members.
What will we do? Members will follow whatever program they choose or the recommendations of their personal doctors. This is not a bible study group. We will have a ½ hour meeting to discuss strategies, explore nutrition and its effects on the body, set small achievable weekly goals to focus on. Our hope is to send each member out into the week motivated to take the best care of the body God has deemed perfect for them. This is an emotional support group based on the foundation of these verses:
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies. 1 Cor 6:19-20
So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Cor 10:31
Our resources will be the Bible, The Daniel Plan by Rick Warren, other Christian based literature, Science backed nutritional research, as well as I will draw from my experience and training. Resource information will be made available to the members.
